Did you know that anxiety affects 40 million American adults?
More than a third of these adults have social anxiety, and one-sixth of them have general anxiety. Millions of people also have crippling PTSD and performance anxiety. Doesn’t it seem crazy that this is almost the norm? Watch this video to learn what really makes most people anxious and how to get rid of it:
How anxiety is learned and how to get rid of it.
What is Anxiety?
Anxiety can be thought of as nervousness, unease, worrying, panic, or just plain fear. It can be caused by having low self-esteem, going through a traumatic event, or growing up in a chaotic home. It can cause relationships problems, make it hard to sleep, cause panic attacks, lead to addictions, and even cause long-term health problems.
Most people agree that medicine and therapy are the best ways to “treat” anxiety. Some people do well with these methods, but after the first few sessions, many find talk therapy to be useless, painful, expensive, and a waste of time. More and more people are choosing not to take expensive psychiatric drugs that may become addictive and often have bad side effects.
Overcome Anxiety with Hypnosis and NLP
Most of the people who come to us for help with anxiety are referred by therapists, doctors, or past clients. The rest find us online when they are looking for a different way to treat their anxiety. We’ve found that just getting to the bottom of the problem has given most of our anxious clients lasting peace of mind. Read what some of our clients had to say about us to see if you can relate.
*Testimonials by former clients of Todd or Gina Goodwin are true and factual. Goodwin Hypnosis, its officers, and personnel, do not imply or claim that these comments represent typical results. Results vary depending on age, gender, lifestyle, motivation, and individual commitment to achieve a desired result. These clients voluntarily offered their feedback and were not compensated in any way. Each comment is the opinion of one person at a specific time and should be considered only in that context.
Frequently Asked Questions
As hypnotists, we don’t diagnose or treat diseases or disorders, but it bothers us that the mental health field labels more and more people with these “diseases” and “disorders.” In many cases, these conditions are just symptoms that reveal an underlying physical or emotional problem that’s been ignored or not treated effectively. For instance, anxiety can be caused by too much caffeine, low blood sugar, hormones that are out of balance, or even certain medications. In these cases, the right treatment should focus on the underlying nutritional or medical causes. Other times, the problem is a habitual “fight or flight” response or a subconscious belief that you’re unsafe, both of which can be caused by traumatic experiences.
Instead of accepting a diagnosis that names the symptoms but not the cause, we think it’s better to figure out what’s causing the anxiety symptoms and deal with that properly.
It’s not up to us to tell you to stop using any therapy or medication that you’re already using. We do, however, encourage you to have self-awareness and to understand the goal, expectations, and side effects of such treatments. That way, you can decide whether or not to continue. Unfortunately, the situation you’re going through is very common. It’s not your fault that what you did in the past didn’t solve your problems. It’s often because well-meaning therapists or doctors were treating symptoms and not getting to the root cause of the anxiety.
Because everyone is different, we need to talk with you first to figure out if we can help you and what you can expect. Most of our clients notice a big improvement fairly quickly, even if they’ve been anxious for a while. After all, if unresolved trauma and/or fearful beliefs are to blame, it doesn’t matter if they first affected you last month or decades ago, because they still cause symptoms every day. To use an analogy, once we remove the thorn (the root cause), the painful itch (anxiety and worry) goes away, no matter how long it’s been there.
There’s a good chance! In our first meeting with a client, which takes less than an hour, we usually figure out how to solve their problem. After that, you don’t need to waste time or energy telling us more about your story, because we rarely need those details to get results. That’s a big difference between what we do and what talk therapy does.
